THE WATCH

HANHART PIONEER ONE

The new PIONEER One – the timeless chronograph that has been admired in past decades is now back with a contemporary design and technology. The relaunch of this classic model lifts it onto the next level to exceed the desires and expectations of today’s most critical watch lovers. By adapting originality to the latest standards of watchmaking, Hanhart brings the unique charm of the early 50s back to life.

The exclusive watch manufacture from the Black Forest understands to merge functionality and precision engineering with exclusive, unique design like no other. Established in 1882, Hanhart has created countless masterpieces that still follow the same rules ever since: maximum reliability, perfect legibility, simple and secure operation, and the greatest possible robustness.

Hanhart’s iconic model from the 50s, the 417 ES Fly back (Calibre 42), gives this watch the historic inspiration. However, without being a chronograph it is a model which has never been at Hanhart before

The PIONEER One measures a diameter of 42 mm and a height of 12 mm. The typical Hanhart leather strap with stainless-steel rivets underlines the vintage character of this watch and ensures a comfortable feeling on the wrist. It is the perfect everyday companion, whether for work or for leisure time. Moreover, with its antique charisma in contrast to the new Hanhart logo, it perfectly complements the Hanhart watch family.

THE ICONIC PREDECESSOR

The Hanhart Calibre 42, a ratchet wheel Calibre with flyback function and manual wind, was introduced in the 50s and was an evolution of the Calibre 40 and 41. The design of the hands and numerals of the PIONEER One are based on this iconic model. The Calibre was installed in the Hanhart Chronograph 417 and 417 ES (the stainless-steel version), which were originally produced for the Air Force of the German Federal Armed Forces. For this reason, the clock is also called “Bundeswehr chronograph” among connoisseurs.

About 500 pieces made of brass and 500 pieces made of stainless steel were produced in the 1950s. They are a rarity today and therefore extremely hard to find and get. Hanhart pilot chronographs were often an aesthetic model for the design of numerous military and aviator watches by many renowned watch manufacturers.
