Robustness, reliability and readability. From the mid-1950s, Hanhart built the Bundeswehr's first pilot's chronograph according to these three criteria. Its name is 417 and its task is uncompromising use on the wrist of pilots. Hanhart supplied the German armed forces with the chronograph for almost ten years until 1963, when the brand focussed on the production of hand stopwatches. The few surviving examples of the original 417 have since become the most sought-after vintage chronographs from Germany.

With the new Hanhart 417 ES, whose suffixed letter abbreviation stands for stainless steel as it once did, we are celebrating the return of this legendary stopwatch.
