Hanhart has been producing mechanical manufacture movements for stopwatches and wristwatches in its own workshops since 1924. The brand has played a pioneering role in these areas. For example, in 1935 Hanhart developed the sophisticated split-second stopwatch and became one the first manufacturer to enable the measurement of hundredths of a second when it introduced an ultrafast oscillator with a balance wheel frequency of 360,000 vibrations per hour. As early as 1938, from its own manufactory Hanhart produced a single-button chronograph, the Calibre 40, which was followed a year later by the first pilot’s chronographs, including the Calibre 41.
Even today, high-quality mechanical stopwatches are still being manufactured in Gütenbach, in a process involving numerous individual steps. These manufacture movements enable measurements of up to one hundredth of a second as well as addition times, and they feature specially developed details such as a drag indicator or flyback function.
